Why we need your votes
Rothley Imps are desperately in need of some new permanent facilities in the way of changing rooms and safe, secure storage facilities for our equipment (see photo’s below of existing equipment). Though we play on local council playing fields, we are responsible for the maintenance of the car park and the buildings on the land. The car park is full of pot holes due to weather erosion over the last few years and the buildings (movable storage containers) are now the worse for wear with two already condemned and another rapidly heading the same way.
By any standards, our facilities are poor compared with other teams in the local and wider area. We regularly visit lottery funded, football foundation or other grant supported clubs with extremely well prepared and maintained grass pitches, brick buildings housing changing rooms, superb kitchen facilities, often with a bar and social area and decent car parking. With such facilities we could make the club more self-sufficient through revenue generating activities such as running our own football tournament and hiring out the venue for birthdays and celebrations.
These are longer term objectives but the first step is sustainability by ensuring we have teams at each age group and funds for storage facilities for our equipment so that we can meet the minimum requirements for putting on matches within the leagues we are affiliated. To this end we would like to apply for the full funding available in the hope that we can start to achieve and build that legacy for this wonderful village.
